Dorothy Ross Collection
This Civil War diary was found in the trunk of Eula Emily Glenn, born in Hesperus, Colorado, on June 7, 1899. It is a mystery how she came by it. After the war, the diary was used as a calligraphy journal by an anonymous author.
It is thought that the diary came from the Glenn or Roberts families. James Henry Glenn was born in Kansas in 1866. He married Nora Lillian Roberts, who was born in Georgia. Eula is their daughter.
Eula Glenn was the mother of Elbert Melvin Ross, who was born in Durango, Colorado. Elbert married Dorothy Ross. Dorothy discovered the diary and donated it to the Salida Library in October 2023.
